video killed the radio star

as i was in capetown, one of the things that i noticed to be different was the music. i was put on to so many different artists and types of music and loved most of it. our cable provider made sure to give us about 5 solid music channels and my friends and i definitely put that to good use. our pregame music came from mtv, channel O and others. with that said here are the 5 most memorable videos from capetown tv

5. leona lewis - forgive me
i remember really vibing to this song when her album first came out. now im not really up on videos like that out here in the states so perhaps this has been showing but this was a first for me. if you peep you can see how the record label put her in some sexy little outfits, dancing more even having choreographed moves in the streets. ok girl. they said you gotta get them sales up girl,we're rereleasing a special edition cd.
1:32 "hey look it is! "

4.alesha dixon - the boys does nothing
now i was the only one on my trip that was feeling this song. granted lyrically this is not the most complex track but it does have a catchy beat. and thus catching me in its musical web. im not sure what i like about this song but i was kind of feeling it. she asks the ever important queston "does he wash up" as a man who washes up, maybe that's my link. she's an attractive young lady who's older then i am so i can dig it. she sounds good. wait till the end and watch the dance solo's. very interesting. did they and do you wash up?
3:25 "i've actually done this move in the club"

3. lil jackie - the world should revolve around me
humility may not be evident here but talent is. i was lil jackie's look, swag and this song as a whole. again lyrically not the strongest but hey who needs lyrics these days. my fav line in this song was " who came first the chicken nugget or the egg mcmuffin." the fat guy in us all knows the answer is the mcnugget. well maybe the mcmuffin due to the breakest menu availibility. but i digress.
1:39 " is that rosie perez??"

2. kardinal offishall ft. keri hilson - numba 1.
these are two of favorite artists so im hopin this song will get to the states. but let's be honest, when was the last time you saw a kardinal offishall video? i heart keri hilson though and she really catches it with the hook on this one. dope ass video and song.
1:59 "true committment to a video"

1. madcon -beggin
we first heard this song at a club and dubai and it absolutely popped. people were going crazy including yours truly. i got to capetown and finally saw the video. hated it but the song was still dope. i believe this is a frank valli remake and these fellow caught it. it's actually an odd video now that I think of it. but it was definitely pumpin in capetown. funny story is that someone in dubai told me that i look just like a guy in the video. you be the judge!
1:12 " is this guy with the from my lookalike?"

what are your thoughts???

gotta have my capetown tv!

flyin my way?

happy new year all! this is my first post of 2009 so hope you enjoy it.

i recently made a trip to capetown south africa. it was a gorgeous city and i most def recommend that if you ever have chance to pay it a visit.

part of my trip though was the 14 hour flight to my layover destination of dubai. we took air emirates and flew on their a380 airbus. comparing the airbus to any american airline is like comparing beyonce to rupaul, soul plane to roots, the cosby show to malcolm and eddie, illmatic to any coolio album. ok you get the point. to catch my drift i present to you the top 5 reasons to fly on the air emirates a380 airbus

5. flight pack
this flight pack includes the most comfortable pair of socks. you can walk around the whole plane in comfort. now granted the stinky foot folk take full advantage but its worth it. pack includes a portable toothbrush and ill be the first to let you know that i did brush my teeth after enjoying a complimentary twix. gotta watch those cavities kid. and my personal fave the sleep mask. you haven't slept until you sleep with a mask on. i brought mine home and i'm totally sleeping on a new level

4. in flight phone
each seat has a phone. you pick up. you dial a seat number. you call your homies or perhaps that sweet honey in seat 36A. "hey girl turn around i'm in seat 75c. i see you!"

3.liquor
now i'm no lush but i do enjoy a lovely spirit here and there. air emirates is going free alcoholic beverages the entire flight! now it was actually $8 for champagne. but jack daniels free. absolute free. i had some sweet merlot with dinner. some of that free pinot with lunch. a little delay and a little more pinot. little kid crying a little more pinot. poppin miniature bottles in all time zones.

2.food

the food was remarkable.
appetizer: smoked turkey accompanied by marinated corn
main course: chicken curry with biryani rice. mixed veggies and potatoes
dessert: sweet ass cake
midway snack: tuna wrap or mozarella sandwich
yup there was brunch...scrambled eggs. sausage. bacon. biscuits.

1. the playlist

they have this entertainment system that includes great movies and tv shows but the best part was the music. you can create a playlist from over 1000 songs from almost any genre. on thing missing was rap but here's a sample of my artists
prince. michael jackson. hendrix. coltrane. miles. dizzy. aretha. estelle. adele. chris brown. mia. beyonce. stevie wonder. bob dylan. same cooke. marvin gaye.bill withers. sinatra. ellington. queen. les miserables soundtrack and more. close your eyes, put on your socks and mask and let the music play folks.

oh and by the way first class gets individual showers! damn.

happy flyin!
